Parai is desrived from the Prakrit "parāya" and Sanskrit "parāgata", meaning belonging to another, alien, or other. Jai is derived from Sanskrit jāta or janī meaning born of, or daughter/female offspring.
Growing up in a jagirdar family, it was hard to convince people around me to let me study. My father was supporting me but was told by many relatives that investing in me was futile because I was someone else’s property as a girl.
